PURPOSE:To prepare a ferrule having good toughness and dimensional stability and a small degree of anisotropy by injection molding a resin composition prepared by mixing an inorganic filler with a resin mixture of a specified composition comprising polyphenylene sulfide, ethylenne type ionomer, and epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:In the preparation of a ferrule for an optical fiber connector by the injection molding of a resin composition, the resin composition in which 50-400 pts.wt. of an inorganic filler of undefined or spherical, not fibrous, form is mixed with 100 pts.wt of a resin mixture comprising 95-60wt.% of polyphenylene sulfide, 3-25wt.% is of ethylene type ionomer, and 2-20wt.% of epoxy resin is injection molded. In this way, the ferrule is prepared which has good toughness, dimensional stability, heat resistance, and moisture resistance and a small degree of anisotropy and does not generate sink marks. Since the resin composition has suitable flowability for injection molding, the ferrule can be easily formed with high efficiency. |
