PURPOSE:To make color toners almost equal in melting state according to the toner colors of toner image on an intermediate transfer rotary body and to make the fixation of a multicolor toner image optimum by applying radiation energy to the toner image according to the radiation energy absorption characteristics of the toners after transferring the toner image to the intermediate transfer rotary body. CONSTITUTION:The device uses such a toner heating means that the strength of radiation energy to be applied to toner image on an intermediate transfer rotary body 10 is varied according to the color toners of the different radiation energy absorption characteristics so that the color toners melt properly and uniformly. The heating means like this has a radiation energy generating source which generates radiation energy according to the toner colors of the toner image on the intermediate transfer rotary body 10, and a heat source lamp 11, for example, composes such a radiation energy generating source 1. This lamp 11 emits radiation to the toner images on the intermediate transfer rotary body 10 and varies according to the toner colors the voltages to be applied to the lamp 11. |
