PURPOSE:To form an oxide cathode having no irregularity of cathode characteristic, allowing no increase of cost by adding a fusible metallic compound to oxide cathode forming paste containing oxide supplying material, dispersion medium, and binder. CONSTITUTION:The three elements carbonate of Ba, Ca, and Sr are used as oxide powder, isoamyl acetate and ethyl acetate are used as dispersion medium, cellulose nitrate is used as binder, and further additional metallic salt having an acid radical the same as the dispersion medium, for instance, indium acetate is added. Performing mixing these at a fixed rate, rolling, and the like, so as to form paste, the paste is sprayed to the base metal 2 of a cathode sleeve 3 covering a heater 4 so as to form an oxide layer 1. Thereby, it is possible to form an oxide cathode having excellent dispersion characteristic, extremely controllable concentration, and being capable of a high current density operation, allowing no increase of cost. |
