PURPOSE: To obtain joint to a piston body, which will not separate under the influence of heat over long period of time and does not permit penetration of compressed oil by sealing. CONSTITUTION: In a pressure-diecast light alloy piston 1, a ring carrier 2 is used. It is embedded in and connected to a piston body, which is mainly made by casting, adjacent to the first ring groove 3, is made of a metallic material an has pores filled with the component materials of the piston body. In order to obtain a strong joint to the piston body, the ring carrier 2 consists of cold- compacted chips of austenitic cast iron, and the chips and the component materials of the piston body are connected together by a metallic bond. |
