PURPOSE:To prevent ink in a recording head from becoming dry in a serial- scanning type ink jet recording apparatus by a method wherein the recording head is made to face an ink receiver at a specified intervals and is made to eject ink during operations for recording images. CONSTITUTION:As a power source is switched on, a pump 20 operates for a specified period of time and sucks a specified amount of ink from an ejection port of a head 1 that is pressed against a cap 18. Then, the cap 18 is separated from the head 1, and the head 1 is moved for scanning and images are formed with the ink ejected in accordance with image signals. And after specified ejection is made from the head 1 and a specified period of time, for instance 4 seconds, has passed, ejection from the head l is suspended and a carriage 6 is stopped after slowing-down. Then, the head 1 is turned and is made to face an ink receiver 4, and the ink is blank ejected from a nozzle. After a blank ejection is effected, the recording is reopened. Operations as mentioned above are repeated. |
