PURPOSE:To obtain a calcium carbonate having extremely excellent dispersibility in liquid and giving a Ca-enriched milk, juice, etc., having high preservation stability by applying a specific treatment to CaCO3 powder obtained by a specific method. CONSTITUTION:Lime milk is carbonated with CO2 and the obtained aqueous suspension of CaCO3 having a pH of X is subjected to stirring, wet-pulverization and/or standing to increase the pH to a level Y satisfying the formula Y>=8.6 and the formula I. After adjusting the pH to Z satisfying the formula II e.g. by removing the alkaline substance in the suspension, the suspension is subjected to dehydration, drying, dry-pulverization, etc., to obtain CaCO3 powder having a water-content of >=2wt.% (measured by drying at 200 deg.C for 4hr) and a BET specific surface area of 6-60m<2>/g. Water is added to the powder to obtain an aqueous suspension having a CaCO3 solid concentration of 1-40wt.% and the CaCO3 in the liquid is crushed and/or dispersed. Finally, a hydrophilic emulsifier having an HLB of >=10 is added to the aqueous suspension in an amount of 5-100 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of CaCO3 in the suspension. |
