METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING THICK-WALLED HEAT INSULATING PIPE BODY FOR COVERING

PURPOSE:To continuously produce a thick-walled heat insulating pipe body covering a pipe to be thermally insulated with a cover pipe made of a foamed resin by a method wherein a heat insulating pipe body is opposed to the surface of a heat insulating sheet material and the heat insulating sheet material is heated to cover the heat insulating pipe body and curved so that both end parts thereof in the lateral direction of the sheet material are abutted to weld both end parts to form a laminated heat insulating pipe body. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating pipe body 1 made of a foamed resin having a large number of through-holes formed thereto so as to pierce the pipe body in the thickness direction thereof is delivered in the longitudinal direction thereof and a heat insulating sheet material 2 made of a foamed resin is delivered in the longitudinal direction thereof and the heat insulating pipe body 1 is opposed to the surface of the heat insulating sheet material 2. Hot air is sprayed on the heat insulating sheet material 2 passing through a molding guide 6 from a hot air blower 5A and the heat insulating sheet material 2 is curved so that both end parts in the lateral direction thereof are abutted to weld the outer surface of the heat insulating pipe body 1 to the inner surface of the heat insulating sheet material 2. A hot blade 7 is brought into contact with one of both end parts in the lateral direction of the sheet material 2 curved and deformed so as to cover the outer periphery of the heat insulating pipe body 1 in the molding guide 6 to weld both end parts of the sheet material 2 to form a laminated pipe body Q.
