<p>PURPOSE:To provide an AC generator for a vehicle which can output an output current by a simple circuit configuration irrespective of the number of turns of an armature coil even in the case of a predetermined rotational speed or less for starting power generation. CONSTITUTION:An AC generator for a vehicle comprises a diode bridge 3 of first rectifying means, a voltage regulator 5, a diode array 7 of second rectifying means, and a switching element 9. The bridge 3 rectifies an AC current from the generator 1, and supplies its DC component to a battery 21.a load 23 through output terminal 19a, 19b. A short-circuiting current flows to armature coils 1ua, 1va, 1wa, etc., during ON period of the element 9. In this case, the short-circuiting current is controlled unidirectionally by the array 7. Thus, power is stored in armature coils 1ub, 1vb, 1wb, etc. Stored power is output through the bridge 3 in superposition on generated voltages of the coils 1ua, 1va, 1wa during OFF period of the element 9.</p> |
