PURPOSE: To obtain a light beam amplification and transmission system which amplifies a beam generated by a central station to a high power level, has near diffraction limitation quality, and transmits the beam to a local station without attenuation due to SBS. CONSTITUTION: This system is equipped with the central station 2 which has a phase conjugate mirror 26 and an optical amplifier 24, the local station 4, a single-mode optical fiber 12 which supplies a source light signal to the local station 4, and a multi-mode optical fiber bundle 18 which connects the central station 2 and local station 4; and amplification and phase conjugation are performed at the central station 2 and reflection to the local station 4 along an optical fiber means is done, the phase conjugate mirror 26 generates a reflected signal which has near diffraction limited more than a light signal having diffraction limited in the beginning of the same power transmitted through a single path passing through the optical fiber means 18, and the optical fiber means 18 has sufficient sectional area to substantially suppress stimulus Brillouin scatter due to the reflected light signal. |
