The device is used to enable the whole of a fishing line, which has become caught on something at the bottom of the water, to be recovered. It consists of a manually adjustable timer mechanism (20), a slot (16) for holding the line and a mechanism for cutting and securing the line (32 - 58). The device is placed on the fishing line, with the line passing through the slot, in such a way that the device descends the line, under the action of gravity, to the end which is caught. After the manually set period of delay, the device is locked onto the line and the cutting mechanism cuts through the line in the vicinity of the hook, to enable it to be recovered in full. USE/ADVANTAGE - It enable total recovery of fishing lines to be achieved, when hook has become caught on something under water.
