The table aid for handicapped people includes a rotating plate (1) mounted on a rectangular frame (2). A manipulator arm (8) is provided with a curved stem supporting a spoon (6). The plate has a semi-toroidal shape with an outer trough (4) and a central raised flat portion (5). The shape of the spoon is such that it fits into the trough when the arm lies along a radius line of the plate. The arm is controlled by an ultrasound sensor, with a remote control strapped to the user, such that single presses of a button cycle the control through the processes of rotating the plate, filling the spoon and offering the full spoon to the user's mouth. ADVANTAGE - A seriously handicapped person may feed themselves, avoiding a feeling of complete dependence.
