PURPOSE:To provide a laser device, which can tune fine points of an optical waveguide in a short time. CONSTITUTION:In a laser device, in which the laser beam 2 is converged by a converging lens 1 and radiated to a clad layer 4 near a core 17 of an optical waveguide 3, a mask plate 13 for transmitting the laser beam 2 to the only part, where the radiation of light is required, is provided between the converging lens 1 and the clad layer 4. A diameter phi of a light transmitting part 13a of the mask plate 13 is set smaller than the core width W of the optical waveguide 3 to be tuned in consideration of divergence of the transmitted light 14 by the diffraction at the peripheral edge of the light transmitting part 13a. The mask plate 13 is made of the material, which can shut the CO2 laser beam having a large power. |
