The device for driving a carrousel of an X-Y pen plotter, has a clutch mounted between a solenoid and a pulley assembly, which rotates a geneva gear without a step motor. The device comprises pulley assemblies (5,6,7,8) with a stepped section, a hole for inserting shaft (7) of the pulley (8) at the lower body; clutch (4), with stepped section, engaged with the stepped section on the pulley (8) at the upper body; a lever clutch (9) having a bar (9a) inserted to the groove (4a) on the outer periphery of the clutch; a solenoid assembly for pulling the lever clutch (9) by electric force; a drive arm geneva (3) connected with the lower clutch (4); projected pin (3a) attached to the drive arm geneva (3).
