RECORDING OR/AND PLAY-BACK DEVICE OF OPTICAL TAPE

The system has a playback head with a laser diode providing an output to a collimator lens, followed by an aperture and beam splitter with a quarter wavelength plate. The latter charges the linear polarised light into circular polarised light and this is focussed onto the tape. The reflected signal is reconverted and is directed by the beam splitter to a focussing lens in-front of the photodiode detector. More information can be stored than that of optical disc. The system has simple construction and reduces mechanical noise.
