The subject of the invention is a system for protecting, against radar detection, a piece of active or passive electronic equipment, that is to say a piece of equipment transmitting or receiving microwave electromagnetic radiation, a radar or a transmitter or a telecommunication receiver for example. �<??>To this end, the transmissive surface (A) of the equipment (E) is covered with a device (ME) capable on command of imparting to the wave crossing it a phase shift varying substantially by pi /2; this makes it possible to phase-modulate a microwave (11) illuminating the equipment. The frequency spectrum of the wave reflected by the equipment is thus modified and spread, thus making detection of the equipment more difficult. So as not to disturb the operation of the equipment to be protected, an inverse modulation (M1) is applied to the signal transmitted and/or received by the relevant equipment. �<IMAGE>� |
