A device for feeding continuous current to the clamp of a resistance welding set comprises a transformer (16a) fed by asymmetrical circuit breaker (52) preceded by a lower cut-off device of which the secondary winding (45) feeds a rectifier (16) connected to the two arms of a welding clamp (1). The transformer (16a) and the rectifier (16) are mechanicall intergral with the clamp (1) and have a common closed circuit cooling system (24) made up of:- (a) a heat carrying air/liquid heat exchanger; (b) a circulation pump and a fan driven by an electric motor that takes its necessary operating energy from the secondary winding circuit of the transformer (16a); and (c) a leakage equaliser (30). The assembly is arranged on the common mechanical support (13a,23) of the clamp (1), the transformer (16a) and the rectifier (16). USE/ADVANTAGE - The device is used for feeding continuous current to the electrode clamp of a resistance welding machine, partic. for a welding robot. The device simplifies, lightens and reduces the overall size of the device whilst improving the energy efficiency and dynamic electrical performance.
