Compsn. for treating the hair contains ground gall-nuts cooked in olive oil, ground cloves, powdered Cu oxide, artichoke juice, and opt. NaCl, clay and neutral or hennaed razzoul (sic). Pref. compsn. for dyeing and strengthening the hair contains ground gall-nuts cooked in olive oil, followed by addn. of ground cloves and powdered Cu oxide. The mixt. is put into hot water, pref. contg. salt, to which artichoke juice has been added, and is held at a low temp. until it become pasty. A compsn. for dyeing hair black contains ground gall-nuts cooked in olive oil. The mixt. is placed in hot water, pref. salted, to which artichoke juice has been added. A compsn. for strengthening the hair consists of Cu oxide, opt. mixed with clay or with "razzoul" (opt. hennaed). In an example, a compsn. contained 150 g of gall-nuts, 5 g of cloves, 5 g of Cu oxide, and 500 ml of water. The water was held at a low temp. for about 30 mins., to give a pasty prod. The drying time, without using an electric drier, was 3-3.5 h.
