The soaking device is suitable for use in existing vats. It is formed as a two pronged fork (1), with associated uprights, which are carried by a separator (2) at the top of the uprights. The fork lifting mechanism is carried on the vertical slides (3), by which the wood stacked on the forks is lowered into and lifted out of the vat (7). This form of forks is known as "Swan's neck" and are produced from the traditional square section material. The slideways are fitted with rollers and slide on the vertical mast (4). Movement is driven by a hydraulic jack (5), powered by a central hydraulic system (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - It provides a system of handling the wood, which can be adapted for use with all existing soaking tanks.
