The tool to exchange a traveller has a carrier and an operating section to take up the loop or sag in the yarn through a tenser, passing through the traveller. A second operating section detaches and attaches a traveller. Both operating sections are fitted to the carrier with the first section at a given height level at the carrier and the second section has a vertical movement in relation to the carrier to follow the level of the ring rail. The second operating section also has a yarn grip and a wheel to follow the ring rail with a magnet at the wheel circumference to hold it against the rail. The first and second sections, side by side, act with two further units. The first unit has a setting plate and a roller in contact with the bobbin and can be retracted, and a tenser. The second unit is similarly equipped, together with a yarn grip and mechanisms to detach and attach a traveller. A third unit has a roller in contact with the bobbin, with retraction, and a further system removes the bobbin. USE/ADVANTAGE - The tool gives an automatic traveller exchange at the ring rail of a ring spinning machine, which takes up the yarn tension irrespective of the position of the ring rail.
