Control unit calculating values for repetitive processes, esp. ignition, fuel injection and braking - uses microcomputer with interface supplying data bus of motor vehicle

A control unit (20) used to determine the control parameters for ignition, injection and braking is coupled to separate modules (21,22,23) via an external data bus (24). Each of the modules and the controller have I/O interfaces (25). The central controller contains a microcomputer (20a) and specific data and the operating programme are stored in a memory (20b). The microcomputer operates to determine, on a continuous basis, the ignition, injection and braking control parameters at high speed that are down-loaded to the modules. This allows the optimum operating condition to be maintained. USE/ADVANTAGE - Minimises system response time and avoids superfluous data transmission, reducing load on bus.
