The invention relates to a regulating stage of textile industry, in which the delay of the fibre tape is variable under open-loop and/or closed-loop control. It is the object of the invention to analyse electrical signals or measurement values of a stage so that, on the basis of these analyses, corrections can be carried out. The object is achieved by the fact that additional, time-related signal analyses are made independently for the regulation. They enable correctable deviations to be detected within the analysed signals and suitable correction values to be formed. If deviations occur outside a tolerance, it is detected, in interaction with the knowledge memory of a computer, whether the deviation occurred due to a disturbance in the machine or whether the deviation can be explained as a logical consequence.
