The mfg. process for magnetic yokes and armatures involves joining the lamination packet by a laser welded track. The laser beam is directed on a screening metal surface (6) before the first and after the last metal lamination of the packet and the travel speed at the start and runout such as to prevent melting of the metal surface (6). Process equipment is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - For mfr. of very small laminated yokes and armatures used in matrix printer heads, joined by laser welding. The screening prevents damage of the first and last laminations by excessive laser energy.
