Bead cores for a pneumatic tyre are formed of glass strands preferably either bonded together with a synthetic resin or twisted into yarns or cords. In an example, an assembly of nine strands of glass, 800 decitex, held together by (a) a latex adhesive including resorcinol/formaldehyde prepolymer or (b) a mixture containing rubber, acrylonitrile copolymers or other plastics, is wound around a cylindrical former and the cylinder so formed is cut into appropriate lengths to form bead cores. |
