摘要 <p>Equipment includes a shear which cuts off reject or scrap pieces of the slab and is designed so that the sheared scrap pieces are located upstream of the shear and so that the distance (ST5, in m.) from the shear cutting edges to the position of the first shear cut, for sepg. the entire slab reject portion at the start of rolling operation interruption is less than BAS - PW - L55 - S5W where BAS = min. spacing (in m.) between trailing and leading ends of immediately successive slabs in the furnace in the region adhead of the furnace outlet; PW = forwards or backwards slab travel (in m.) during 'hunting' in the furnace, i.e. when the slabs do not travel continuously in the direction towards the mill train; L55 = max. length (in m.) of scrap piece sepd. in one shear cut during cutting up of the damaged slab or the portion to be removed from the roller table; S5W = path (in m.) covered by the damaged slab (portion) on the roller table on carrying out a shear cut, pref. having a value of zero. Roller table section, between the furnace outlet and the shear, is pref. provided partially or completely with a housing for reducing slab heat losses, the top of the housing being capable of upward pivoting opt. in individual sections. Discharge of the sheared scrap pieces is carried out. Sloping roller table which is at right angles to the axis of the main roller table and which conveys the scrap pieces to a receiver located below the lower end of the roller table. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used esp. in hot wide steel strip mfr. Shearing region length can be reduced, the safety distance between successive slabs can be reduced and thus the buffer capacity of the continuous furnace can be increased.</p>
