PURPOSE:To provide a gland packing retightening device wherein a gland nut is automatically retightened and thus tightening force of a gland packing can be always fixedly held. CONSTITUTION:By internally shrouding a pump chamber 42 in a stepped part 22a partly provided in a plunger 22 of a plunger pump 10, an auxiliary pump unit part 40 is formed, and also a gland nut 28 is engaged with a motor unit part 50 for transmitting turning force to this gland nut, to connect both the unit parts 40, 50 by a hydraulic system 60. A relief valve 68 is provided in the hydraulic system 60, to hold a pressure in the system to a predetermined value. In this way, retightening of the gland nut 28 can be attained during operation of the pump 10, and also tightening force of a gland packing 26 by this retightening can always be held to a fixed value. |
