Electrically conductive overshoes are formed at least in part from an elastic composite comprising a layer of non-conductive elastomeric composition formed from a latex composition and an elastic superimposed electrically conductive layer intermolecularly cohered to said non-conductive layer, said conductive layer being an elastic elastomeric composition formed from substantially the same latex composition and additionally having dispersed therein finely divided acetylene black in an amount from 6% to 50% by weight, said acetylene black having an average particle size of 10 to 50 millimicrons in diameter. The preferred embodiment of the shoe comprises a unitary vamp, sole and heel of non-conductive material and a conductive sole and heel portion overlying the said unitary construction, there being additionally provided a conductive strip joining the electrically conductive heel portion. The shoe base may be rendered non-slip by abrasion or by a further layer of conductive material containing cotton flock. |
