A photocell type smoke detector, comprising a luminescent element and a light receiving element disposed within a dark box, which is in fluid communication with the atmosphere. A smoke monitoring space is provided between the elements and an assembly for mounting the elements is also provided. The elements are received within respective holders which are introduced into respective sockets formed in a base board of the detector. Each of the holders has a substantially L-shaped cross-section and comprises an upstanding elastically deformably engaging member formed with a hook portion. A support space is formed at night angles to the engaging member for mounting either the luminescent element or the light receiving element, and a lens supporting portion is formed at an open end of the support space. The socket comprises a holder receiving portion, an inserting portion for the engaging member and a stepped portion to engage the hook portion. The engaging member is provided on the socket and the stepped portion is provided on the holder. |
