PURPOSE:To produce p-hydroxybenzoic acid which has hitherto been chemically synthesized by reaction at a high temperature under a high pressure, from p-cresol at a low cost by converting the p-cresol into the p-hydroxybenzoic acid using a microorganism with saved energy. CONSTITUTION:The objective method for producing p-hydroxybenzoic acid comprises converting p-cresol into the p-hydroxybenzoic acid with a microbial cell of a microorganism Pseudomonas.putida KS-0160 strain. For example, this method for producing the p-hydroxybenzoic acid is to proliferate the microbial cell, then add the p-cresol and continue the culturing or add the p-cresol at the starting point of the proliferation and carry out the culturing or use the microbial cell after the proliferation and recovery thereof and convert the p-cresol into the p-hydroxybenzoic acid with the microbial cell. |
