PURPOSE:To provide a practical method and composition for stabilizing a reduced glutathione in an aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:Reduced glutathione in an aqueous solution is stabilized by the addition of L-ascorbic acid or isoascorbic acid, the adjustment of the solution pH to <=4.0, the use of anaerobic state, the maintenance of the system at a low temperature or their combination. Reduced glutathione is a biosubstance preventing the superoxidation in vivo and effective in promoting detoxication action and metabolic action on lipid such as fatty acid and supposed to be effective for the improvement of hepatic function and the prevention and treatment of fatty liver. Since the compound is unstable in aqueous solution, the preparation in the state of aqueous solution is difficult and the compound has been commercialized exclusively in dried state such as powder and tablet. However, present process enables the use of the compound as a drink, injection, etc. |
