TAPE THICKNESS AUTOMATIC DISCRIMINATION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To discriminate tape thickness automatically when the tape runs. CONSTITUTION:A period detection block detects lapse time of each n revolutions (n>=2) of a reel 2. A presettable counter 9 counts the count where the output of the period detection block 100 is updated starting from I+1th count (I>=1). A period change detection block 200 detects the difference between the lapse time which is output by the period detection block 100 when the output of the presettable counter 9 is equal to or more than 1 and that when the output of the presettable counter 9 is equal to 0. An addition circuit 8 adds and accumulates the output of the period change detection block 200. A threshold value calculation circuit 10 generates a threshold for discriminating the tape thickness using the output of the presettable counter 9. Then, a discrimination circuit 11 compares the output of the addition circuit 8 with the threshold which is output by the threshold value calculation circuit 10, thus discriminating the thickness of a tape 1.
