The invention concerns the new(s)(+)-2-ethoxy-4-[N-[1-(2-pipericinophenyl)-3-methyl-1-butyl]amino carbonylmethyl]benzoic acid and its salts, which have useful pharmacological properties, producing an action on the intermediate metabolism and in particular a lowering of blood-sugar levels. The invention also concerns the new intermediates of the formulae (I), (III), (IV) and (VII) as well as their addition salts. The new compounds can be prepared by prior art methods used to prepare analogous compounds.
