摘要 The spray apparatus is installed in-line with an extrusion press and serves to cool metal profiles (18) on all sides, especially those consisting of aluminium or an aluminium alloy. The coolant emerges from spray nozzles in the direction of the profiles (18) in accordance with a control program. Spacing (a, b, d), cross-sectional distribution and direction of the spray nozzles are matched specifically to the geometrical shape and mass distribution of the profiles (18). The optimum parameters are determined and stored in the system processor. The spray nozzles (28) are arranged on nozzle rails (22) extending in the direction (16) of the profile (18). The nozzle rails (22) comprise at least one longitudinal water duct (W', W'') and two longitudinal air ducts (A', A''), branch ducts (31, 33) leading from the water ducts (W', W'') to the spray nozzles (28), and the air ducts (A', A'') ending in air slits (39, 41) directed towards the nozzle outlet openings (38). The extruded profiles (18) are passed into the spray apparatus and are cooled under program control at a rate above the material-specific critical rate by means of a coolant sprayed on in a manner adapted to the shape and mass distribution of the profile. With uniform cooling all round, it is possible to keep profiles (18) which were straight when extruded straight and, with non-uniform cooling, to correct profiles deformed in the process of extrusion for bending and/or twisting. <IMAGE>
