Auxiliary low beam headlamp for motor vehicle - uses optical fibre bundle starting in lower part of normal headlamp and opening behind lens of higher mounted lamp

The auxiliary low beam headlamp (5) is positioned on the front of the vehicle at a height greater than the normal low beam headlamp (1) and with the same cut-off angle (7). The auxiliary lamp has a complex surface and is supplied by a bundle of optical fibres with one end placed at the focus of the lens of the lamp and the other end connected to the summit of a conic optical conductor. The base of the conical conductor is exposed to the luminous flux from the lamp in the lower part of the conventional headlamp. USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides increased illumination of road immediately ahead of vehicle without increasing risk of dazzling oncoming traffic.
