<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently detect the sizes of all rolls of paper loaded and to facilitate maintenance such as the replacement of a sensor by providing a cutter unit, which can be attached/ detached to/from the device main body, with the canon sensor which detects the size of each roll of paper. CONSTITUTION:The size detection sensor 52 is provided facing a detection surface, in the common path of the cutter unit 31. The size detection sensor 52 consists of, for example, a plurality of reflection type photosensors 52a-52d, and numbers corresponding to the sizes of the usable rolls of paper are marked side by side in the direction in which they cross the common path, that is, in the direction of the widths of the rolls of paper. The reflection type photosensors 52a-52d detect the presence and absence of the paper by receiving light reflected from the paper passing the common path. Since each roll of paper is loaded along its center, the positions of both its ends differ according to the size, and sensors 52a-52d are arranged in the positions correponding to both the ends of the sizes. Thus, the sizes of the rolls of paper can be detected.</p> |
