PURPOSE:To visually recognize a destination position at a glance by registering the destination in a memory, displaying the destination on a monitor screen, and also displaying information on the direction from a current vehicle position to the destination. CONSTITUTION:When the destination is registered, the destination is set by operating, for example, a key input device 5 and indicating the destination with a cursor over a look at a map screen displayed on a monitor 10. This setting information is stored in the memory in a CPU 1. A display controller 7 receives map data information read out of a CD ROM 11 and own-vehicle position information destination information generated by the CPU 1, performs specific processing, and stores the results in a video memory (VRAM) 8. Image data read out of the memory 8 are displayed on the screen of the monitor 10. Consequently, the own-vehicle position and destination are both displayed on the display screen of the monitor 10. Further, the direction of a past constant-distance travel is displayed with an arrow and the straight distance from the own-vehicle position to the destination is also displayed. |
