摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a floppy disk excellent in running durability by incorporating elaidic acid into a magnetic layer formed on a nonmagnetic substrate by coating with a magnetic coating material. CONSTITUTION:Elaidic acid having trans-form structure as a geometrical isomer of oleic acid is incorporated into a magnetic layer. This elaidic acid has the same mol.wt. (282) as oleic acid but unlike oleic acid it is a colorless flaky solid at ordinary temp. and has 44.5 deg.C m.p. and lubricity. The steric hindrance of the molecule of elaidic acid is slight and this acid is excellent as an internal lubricant. and has more excellent thermal stability than oleic acid. The objective floppy disk having excellent running durability can be produced.
