PURPOSE:To provide the speech translation and communication system which is easily used by a user and makes an efficient communication while making good use of constituent elements of automatic translating telephone. CONSTITUTION:A Japanese speech is recognized by a Japanese speech recognizing device and translated into English by a Japanese-English translating device 2 according to the recognition contents, and the Japanese words are sent in the form of a coded signal to an English side through a communication interface 4 together with the translation contents. On the English side, the contents are received by a communication interface 14, and an English speech synthesizing device 15 vocalizes the synthesized speech in English and also displays the contents of the Japanese words. In response, an English speech recognizing device 11 recognizes the pronounced English words, an English-Japanese translating device 12 translates the recognized contents into English, and a Japanese speech synthesizing device 6 synthesizes a speech on the Japanese side through the communication interfaces 14 and 4, pronounces the Japanese of the translation, and also displays the English words. |
