PURPOSE:To enable remote control without a dedicated transmitter by using a light projecting means for autofocusing also as a remote control transmitter and using one part of a light receiving means also as a remote control receiver. CONSTITUTION:When an output signal from a remote control mode actuating switch S3 is inputted in a CPU 1, the CPU 1 stops range-finding arithmetic operation and outputs an output signal C2 so as to set the gain of variable amplifiers 11 and 12 to specified gain, then outputs an output signal C1 to a driving circuit 2 so as to allow an infrared LED 3 to emit flickering light. After a semiconductor position detecting element (PSD) 7 receives light, output converted to voltage is amplified with the specified gain by the amplifiers 11 and 12 and synchronously detected while the LED 3 is allowed to flicker. In the case of receiving a remote control signal, the set gain of the amplifiers 11 and 12 is released and a camera is restored to an ordinary photographing state. Then, the step of stopping the range-finding arithmetic operation is released after a specified time, and a signal based on the result of range-finding is outputted to a photographing device 15, thereby performing photographing. |
