PURPOSE:To provide an optical semiconductor device which can avoid occurrence of a defect caused by the use of a bonding agent and simplify its manufacturing process, and so on, and also to provide a method by which the performance of a photoelectric conversion substance can be easily restored. CONSTITUTION:Since spacers 8 are interposed between an optical semiconductor element 1 and light transmitting member 3, a space section 10 is formed between the element 1 and member 3. The element 1 and member 3 can easily and firmly be joined to each other without using any bonding agent. Therefore, the occurrence of such a fault as a decline in light transmissivity, etc., related to light incidence can be avoided.
