PURPOSE:To simplify circuit configuration and to perform printing with high quality by limiting the output of edge data for a convex pattern and a concave pattern. CONSTITUTION:An edge detecting means 102, a weighing means 103, a logical operation means 104, a signal generating means 105, and an edge data limiting means 106 are provided on a correction circuit. Difference between the image data of a prescribed dot in a sample window and that of a dot adjacent to the prescribed dot and the difference of the image data in accordance with adjacent dots are detected without performing comparison between the sample window and a template pattern, and correction is performed by varying the size of the prescribed dot based on a detection result. Furthermore, since the output of the edge data is limitied for the convex pattern expressed by adding one dot on three dots set in shape of straight line and the concave pattern expressed by adding two dots, it is possible to limit the correction for the convex pattern and the concave pattern. |
