PURPOSE:To enhance the power generating performance of a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte plate 1 impregnated with an electrolyte is pinched by a cathode 2 and an anode 3 to form a cell C, and a plurality of such cells C are laminated with separators interposed. When the performance of a fuel cell drops, the oxidating gas to be supplied to the cathode 2 side is stopped, and instead an inert gas or a reductive gas is supplied. The surface condition of the cathode 2 is processed from the oxidative under operation into the reductive. Thereupon the distribution of the electrolyte 5 is controlled to enhance the power generating performance of the fuel cell. |
