摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to monitor the entire iron shell by measuring the temperature distribution in a region, wherein an optical fiber is provided, based on the intensity of backward Raman scattering and the time of the returning of the pulse light, which is cast on the optical fiber provided on the surface of the iron shell of an air heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:Pulse light is cast into an optical fiber 2, which is provided along the surface of the iron shell of an air heating furnace that is a material to be measured 1, from a semiconductor laser 5, which is driven with a pulse driving circuit 4. Of the backward scattering at each part of the fiber 2, the Stokes line and the anti-Stokes line are separated with interference filters 7 and 8 and detected with first and second photodiodes 9 and 10, respectively. Then, two components undergo A/D conversion in a high-speed averaging device 11. The results are added and stored into a memory in correspondence with each delay time. When all the backward scattering has returned, the detection is performed by the same way. The detections are performed many times and the results are averaged. The temperature distribution information is obtained with a data processing device 12 and displayed on a display device 3 based on the intensity ratio of the Stokes line and the anti-Stokes line at each part, which are outputted from a measuring part 3.</p>
