<p>PURPOSE:To provide a bar code reader capable of correctly reading out bar code information from the image of a two-dimensional bar code even when the bar code image on an image pickup element is distorted by arranging the bar code so as not to be orthogonally crossed with the optical axis of an image forming optical system. CONSTITUTION:The bar code reader for photographing a two-dimensional bar code by the image pickup element and reading out bar code information from the photographed bar code image 10' is characterized by detecting the distortion of the bar code image 10' by finding out the inclinations of four straight lines k, n, p, m passing the four corners of the image 10' from the coordinates A to D of the four corners of the image 10' and uniformly distributing a scanning line SCL for reading out the image 10' and a sampling line SAL between a pair of straight lines out of four straight lines extended along the lines SCL, SAL in accordance with the distortion of the detected bar code image.</p> |
