SPECTROSCOPIC OPTICAL SWITCH

PURPOSE:To obtain the spectroscopic optical switch provided with a function for optically exchanging plural splitted beams. CONSTITUTION:A slab waveguide 13 is formed on the surface of a base plate 11, and a pair of electrodes are provided on the rear face of the base plate 11 and the upper face of the slab waveguidc 13. A vertical diffraction grating 12 is provided in the shape of a circular arc on one end face of the slab waveguide 13. Plural input waveguides 14 and 15 and plural convergent waveguides 17 and 18 are provided on the other end face of the slab waveguide 13, and plural output waveguides 19 and 20 are formed on the surface of the base plate 11. Then, an optical waveguide network is formed for selectively supplying respective output beams from the plural convergent waveguides 17 and 18 to the plural output waveguides, and this optical waveguide network is formed so that the plural input beams of various wavelengths inputted to the plural input waveguides 14 and 15 can selectively optically be exchanged to the plural output waveguides 19 and 20 corresponding to the value of an inverse bias voltage impressed between the paired electrodes.
