Glass fibre has compsn. (by wt.) 56-60 (pref. 57-59)% SiO2, 10-12.9 (pref. 11-12.5)% Al2O3, 22-25 (pref. 23-24.5)% CaO+ MgO, 0-3% MgO, 2-6 (pref. 2-5)%B23, 0-2 % Na2O, 0-1% K2O, 0-3% TiO2, 0-1% Fe2O3 and 0-1% F2, the sum of alkali metal oxides being max 2%. The B2O3 content is pref. 2-3.5%, the TiO2 content is pref. 1-2% and the Na2O content is (pref. 0-6-2%. USE/ADVANTAGE - Continuous (reinforcing) glass fibre has a compsn. simular to that of E glass but is cheaper and has high acid resistance. Useful for all conventional glass fibre applicatons, esp. for mfg. composites exposed to corrosive media, esp. industrial waste pipes.
