The machine has an intake mechanism (20,28,60) at the inlet of a wire guide and gripping the wire (16) so that it cannot turn. At the guide outlet is a rotary shaft (76) whose axis is close to the straight path of the wire outside the guide. At the free shaft end a holder (94) accommodates a wire-coiling or bending tool (104). The rollers (20) gripping the incoming wire (16) turn together on the wire guide axis (145) forwards or backwards as desired, and intermittently to suit the shaping operation. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple, accurate and rapid production of complex items eg. springs made of bent wire.
