The shaft is located so that it runs synchronously with a rotating part of the engine. The shaft passes through the ignition coil unit and has a distributor arm at its protruding end. The control unit(106) includes a baseplate (76). A crankshaft sensor for measuring the angle of rotation of the crankshaft is fitted at the baseplate. The control unit includes a current switch packing (60) of cast synthetic material. The switch interrupts the current flowing through a prim. coil of the ignition coil unit. A power transistor is provided also an integrated control circuit for controlling the transistor. The IC and the transistor are hermetically sealed in a cast synthetic packing. ADVANTAGE - Simple construction and gives reliable operation. Heat radiation very effective. Current switch is watertight.
