The invention relates to a weeding machine which is provided with a frame and weeding hooks which are connected to this frame and are intended, during operation, to be moved along below the surface of the soil, with a view to loosening weeds and the like. The device is provided with drive means, with the aid of which the weeding hooks can be moved up and down. The weeding hooks preferably execute a reciprocating movement in a direction which is at least virtually parallel to the intended direction of advance of the machine during operation. <IMAGE>
