The device proposed is intended for pellet production and has a die (8) mounted in a machine bedplate. At least one pan-grinder roller (9), which is connected to a support column (4), passes over the die. The support column extends through the die. The pan-grinder roller is designed as the housing of a direct-drive motor (1) which is powered through the support column. The motor is mounted near the grinder head in such a way that it is free to oscillate vertically. The pan-grinder roller can be resiliently pre-stressed relative to the die.
