The current supply circuit uses an electrolytic capacitor (11) with a high capacitance value, having a large cross-sectional surface and a small thickness in a direction normal to its cross-section. Pref. the capacitor (11) is contained in a common housing (5) with the choke coil or transformer for the LV lamp and comprises wound electrodes with their electrode surfaces normal to the cross-sectional plane or plate electrodes with their electrode surfaces parallel to this plane.
